Sermon Notes from February 5, 2012:

"If I Should Die Before I Wake...I Will Have Left My Family in Good Shape"

Text: Hebrews 11:4

Three Priorities:
1. Train our children.
2. Restore our families.
3. Light our world.

In light of the fact that one day we will die, the hope of our families and their future cannot be left to chance.

Principles and Values:

1. Your family’s spiritual development cannot be left to chance.

Christian values will only be learned when the family—home—and church work in tandem.

2. Build a Godly heritage.

Live out your faith, because more is caught than taught.

There are seven days in a week. Don’t let picnics, ballgames, and recreation come between you and corporate worship. Your kids must see faithfulness.

Every boy needs to learn from his dad that he has what it takes to be a man. It is the core question of his soul and no one but Dad can tell him.

Every daughter needs to know she is precious to her dad and that she is a princess.

There is a desperate need to reclaim our homes and families. It is our highest honor and our greatest challenge.

It was by faith that Abel brought a more acceptable offering to God than Cain did. Abel’s offering gave evidence that he was a righteous man, and God showed his approval of his gifts. Although Abel is long dead, he still speaks to us by his example of faith. (Hebrews 11:4 NLT)
