| Cards of Care |
| The Cards of Care is a ministry of sending cards
out to those who are in need of encouraging words or are dealing with sickness,
recovering, or have experienced a loss of a loved one. This Ministry is greatly
needed to uplift each other and to show others care at a different level. If you
have the gift of encouragement, ask us how you can be involved in this ministry. |
| |
| CD Ministry (Services/Homebound) |
| CD's and DVD's are recorded and made of the 10:45
service for sale to the congregation. Additionally, we send CD's to the
homebound at no cost to them. We are praying for people to become involved in
helping with duplication and mailing these out on a weekly basis. |
| |
| Crisis Response |
| We want to meet the needs of our community with a
crisis such as fire or any natural catastrophe that requires an immediate
response. We will pull together people with a heart, passion and desire to meet
others needs to respond to the crisis at hand. With special offerings and
benevolence we will provide financial assistance when applicable. We will make
special collections of clothing, furniture, and other needs and will also
provide food and other items from our pantry. |
| |
| Expansion of Food Panty |
| At the present time, the Food Pantry is located across from the youth
worship center downstairs. Items are brought to the church by anyone wanting to
donate. Items received into the food pantry include: canned and boxed food items
as well as pull tab ready to eat foods. In addition to this we have added this
year, some school supplies which include: folders, pens, pencils, paper, etc.
Health and Beauty which include: Soap, toothpaste, toothbrushes, shampoo, etc.
Also added are baby products including: baby foods, cereal, formula, bottles,
and diapers & wipes when available. Anyone wanting to bring donations can bring
them on Sundays (before service) or anytime Monday through Thursday from 9:00 am
to 4:00 pm. Items can be placed in the main office or at the information booth.
Food pantry items are available to those who request assistance and speak to the
Care Pastor or other available pastor. This is available during weekly office
hours Monday through Thursday 9:00 am to 4:00 pm. You will need to submit a
card with name, phone number, and address before receiving assistance. |
| |
| Fish and Loaves |
| This ministry involves people who love to prepare
meals. When a death occurs, or someone has surgery there is a team of ladies
ready to prepare and deliver full meals to those who are suffering or bereaved.
Also, this ministry strives to provide meals to families that are experiencing
the joy and hard work of a newborn child. |
| |
| Greeters and Ushers |
| This is a trained group of men and women who feel
called to greet and serve everyone who attends the Winchester Church of God.
Greeters are responsible for being in the foyer to greet and assist anyone in
need. The ushers assist with seating, communion, and receiving tithes and
offerings. We need you in these two areas of ministry. If you would like to
greet on a monthly basis or learn more about ushering please contact us or the
head usher Scott Sions. |
| |
| Guest Follow-up |
| Guest follow-up is a joint effort of the Pastoral
staff and a team of men and women who've dedicated their time to reach out to
guests. Those who visit our services and fill out the Care Card located in the
visitor's information packet receive a letter from Pastor Waller, and a phone
call or home visit by someone on the guest follow-up ministry team. |
| |
| Homebound Communion/Visitation |
| We try to visit each of our homebound members once
each week for fellowship and prayer, and to take communion to each of them
during the week following our monthly church communion service. |
| |
| Hospital Visitation Team |
| The Hospital Visitation team exists as an extension of pastoral
care for the purpose of visitation, prayer support, and evangelism to church
members and others who are admitted to local hospitals. This is another area of
ministry that you could really make a difference in others lives. |
| |
| Jail Ministry Men/Women |
| We make appointments to meet with those within our congregation
that have been incarcerated. Helping to build a relationship, to council and to
support them as they are away from family, church fellowship and what has been
familiar in their lives. A women's service is also done at an area jail. It is
in need of additional leaders to help in this important ministry. |
| |
| Missions |
| In the past we have had planned mission trips to serve our brothers and sisters in need. We have sent missions teams to the gulf area for hurricane relief, replaced roofs in Florida, conducted services and trainings in the British Virgin Islands, and more. Various missions projects are available throughout the year. For more information on mission opportunities please contact Eric and Sheila Pohler at missions@wcog.com. |
| |
| Nursing Home Ministries |
| We are involved in many nursing homes in our
community and surrounding areas. Each service, whether it's a Bible study or a
worship service, is a reflection of the love and concern we have for the hurting
here at the Winchester Church of God. If you have the time and the ability to
love on the elderly please consider doing some visitations and or services. |
| |
| Prayer Chain |
| This ministry is a group of prayer warriors who've
made themselves available to pray for urgent requests. How does it work? If
there is a known need, simply call the church office and report the prayer
request. Someone will then phone the request to the first person listed on the
prayer chain. From that initial phone call the reported request will quickly be
shared with a large number of people who've committed themselves to prayer. Any
known prayer requests should be reported to the church office at 540-667-8017.
You may also e-mail your prayer requests. |
| |
| Prayer Cloth Ministry |
|
If you or anyone you know would like to receive a prayer cloth that has been anointed and prayed over from the church please contact the Care Ministry Department. We will make sure your loved one receives one.
|
| |
| Prayer Team |
| This is a trained group of men and women who feel
called to minister to those who've responded to an altar call. This ministry is
extremely important for leading people into a commitment to Christ. Altar
workers are available to help pray with people who are in need or are hurting.
Please discuss with us your desire to be apart of this ministry. |
| |
| Lock -up Committee |
| The members of this team help with assuring the
church is secure after each service. The only requirement for being a part of
this ministry is church membership. The leader of this team is Rick Blume and
the opportunity to become involved always exists. |
