Blood Pressure Checks
The members of this team are professionals from our congregation. They help to assist those who may need to have their blood pressures checked routinely. This is available to anyone who needs it on the second Sunday of the month in the main office from 10:00 am - 10:30am.
Cards of Care
The Cards of Care is a ministry of sending cards out to those who are in need of encouraging words or are dealing with sickness, recovering, or have experienced a loss of a loved one. This Ministry is greatly needed to uplift each other and to show others care. If you have the gift of encouragement please use it to help minister to others through cards of care.
Crisis Response
We want to meet the needs of our community with a crisis such as fire or any natural catastrophe that requires an immediate response. We will pull together people with a heart, passion and desire to meet others needs to respond to the crisis at hand. With special offerings and benevolence we will provide financial assistance when applicable. We will make special collections of clothing, furniture, and other needs and will also provide food and other items from our pantry.
A Christ Centered Recovery Program
The Winchester Church of God operates Celebrate Recovery, a Christ-centered Recovery Program. This program is available to persons seeking recovery from addictions, co-dependencies, or compulsive dysfunctional behaviors, habits or hang-ups. It is a support program that seeks to help people find a healthy, lasting recovery through a growing relationship with Jesus Christ and a step-by-step recovery program! Those wishing to attend need only to show up at the church and follow the signs to the meeting room.
Meetings : Every Thursday evening @ 7:00 pm in the choir room "A Safe Place To Share"
Fish and Loaves
This ministry involves two different aspects of serving people in need. The first is for those who love ministering through meal preparation. People are needed to bring in food and help with serving and clean up after a funeral when a meal is provided to the family experiencing a loss. Also, the second aspect of this ministry strives to provide meals to families that are experiencing the joy and hard work of a newborn child through our New Mothers Meals.
Food Pantry/No Hands Empty
The Food Pantry is located across from the youth worship center downstairs. Items are brought to the church by anyone wanting to donate. The first Sunday of every month has been designated as our “No Hands Empty” Sunday and we encourage people to bring in pantry items to the designated containers in the main lobby. This is to help replenish the pantry on a regular basis. Items in the food pantry include: canned and boxed food items, pasta, juice, cereal and any pull tab ready to eat foods. Health & Beauty items which include: Soap, toothpaste, toothbrushes, shampoo, etc. Baby Products including: baby foods, cereal, formula, bottles, diapers & wipes. Donations can also be brought to the church Monday through Thursday from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm. The Food pantry items are available to those who request assistance and speak to the Care Pastor or other available pastor. This is available during weekly office hours only.
Greeters and Ushers
This is a trained group of men and women who feel called to greet and serve everyone who attends the Winchester Church of God. Greeters are responsible for being in the foyer to greet and assist anyone in need. The ushers assist with seating, communion, and receiving tithes and offerings. We need you in these two areas of ministry.
Hope Again Community Care Center Off Campus Outreach
The Community Care Center serves the community on the first, second, and third Saturday of each month. It is open from 9:00 am until 12:00 pm. Approximately 20-25 individuals/families are served with food pantry items each week. Appointments are made and each individual, or family, can come only once a month for groceries and other supplies. Supplies are also regularly taken to the Frederick House, which is a income restricted housing for the elderly, located in Stephens City. If you would like to volunteer to help with this ministry signup sheets are available at the information counter each week.
Hospital Visitation Team
The Hospital Visitation team exists as an extension of pastoral care for the purpose of visitation, prayer support, and evangelism to church members and others who are admitted to local hospitals. This is another area of ministry that you could really make a difference in others lives.
Information Counter Volunteer
The members of this team help staff the church information counter each week to help answer questions from members and visitors. This is staffed by a volunteer before and after morning services and also during the Sunday School hour.
Jail Ministry Reaching Men & Women
We make appointments to meet with those within our congregation that have been incarcerated. Helping to build a relationship, to council and to support them as they are away from family, church fellowship and what has been familiar in their lives. A women and men’s service is done weekly in our area facilities.
Lock -up Committee
The members of this team help with assuring the church is secure after each service. The only requirement for being a part of this ministry is church membership. The leader of this team is Rick Blume and the opportunity to become involved always exists.
Missions
In the past we have had planned mission trips to serve our brothers and sisters in need. We have sent missions teams to the gulf area for hurricane relief, replaced roofs in Florida, conducted services and trainings in the British Virgin Islands, and Romania. Various mission projects are available throughout the year. For more information on mission opportunities please contact Eric and Sheila Pohler at missions@wcog.com.
Nursing Home Ministries
We are involved in many nursing homes in our community and surrounding areas. Each service, whether it's a Bible study or a worship service, is a reflection of the love and concern we have for the hurting here at the Winchester Church of God. If you have the time and the ability to love on the elderly please consider doing some visitations and or services.
Prayer Chain
This ministry is a group of prayer warriors who've made themselves available to pray for urgent requests. How does it work? If there is a known need, simply call the church office and or email your requests to us using the link below. An email prayer chain as well as a phone prayer chain is done daily with the requests that have been gathered. It is quickly shared with a large number of people who've committed themselves to prayer. Any known prayer requests should be reported to the church office at 540-667-8017. Or you may also e-mail your prayer requests.
Prayer Cloth Ministry
If you or anyone you know would like to receive a prayer cloth that has been anointed and prayed over from the church please contact the Care Ministry Department. We will make sure your loved one receives one.
Prayer Team
This is a trained group of men and women who feel called to minister to those who've responded to an altar call. This ministry is extremely important for leading people into a commitment to Christ. Altar workers are available to help pray with people who are in need or are hurting.
